Professor K.V. Iyer was one of the most well known physical culturists coming out of India. He was considered a mystic studying Vedic literature like the Bhagavad Gita. In his books he blended yoga with its spiritual values and physical culture common to the west. He called it The Yogic School of Physical Culture
In the 1920’s in India there was a physical fitness craze led by this man. Iyer described himself as having “a body which gods covet” and claimed the title of “India’s most perfectly developed man.”
Iyer was also appointed as a physician to the Maharajah of Mysore, a strict vegetarian, and owned the Hercules Gymnasium in Bangalore.
